About Us

Outdoor area of Miami Florida Elks Lodge 948 with pool and seating.

Miami Elks Lodge 948 has been rooted at the corner of SW 72nd Street and SW 103rd Avenue since its charter, and the people who keep it running are the real story. Members gather here not for appearances but for purpose, hosting charitable events, birthday parties, holiday celebrations, and community fundraisers that have quietly shaped this corner of South Miami for decades.

The lodge features two distinct event spaces: a larger ballroom that can accommodate sizable gatherings and a more intimate room that's drawn rave reviews from guests celebrating birthdays and milestones. Ample parking makes it practical for everyone, and the property's size surprises first-time visitors who expect something smaller. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is one of America's oldest fraternal organizations, and Lodge 948 carries that mission forward through local scholarships, veteran support, and neighborhood outreach.

There is honest work still to be done on the exterior, and the lodge's leadership knows it. What matters most to members is that the doors stay open, the events keep coming, and the community continues to find a home here in South Miami.

What We Offer

Lodge 948 offers a full calendar of private event rentals, member socials, and charitable programming. The larger ballroom handles weddings, quinceañeras, corporate mixers, and large fundraisers, while the smaller event room is a favorite for birthday parties and intimate receptions. Both spaces include tables, chairs, a bar area, and support from lodge staff familiar with making events run smoothly.

Beyond rentals, active membership unlocks access to Elks National programs including youth scholarships, drug awareness initiatives, and veteran services. Members participate in lodge-sponsored dinners, holiday parties, and community service projects throughout the year. Whether you're planning a private celebration or looking for a meaningful way to give back to Miami, Lodge 948 offers a practical, affordable venue and a brotherhood with real roots in the community.

"Looks very low class and dingy from the outside. Would recommend the owner(s) to please properly maintain the outside, the border wall is deteriorated, paint is chipping, there are dead plants, no sense of aesthetics, it significantly diminishes the quality of the area. It would be great if you could apply a fresh coat of paint and plant new bushes to make the surroundings more lively and inviting. It seems that the property management lacks the necessary upkeep knowledge and fails to maximize the potential of the facility. Consider utilizing the large, unused parking space to host local events such as a farmers market, food trucks or establish a cafe or study cafe or communal work spaces, so many options. Better marketing efforts are needed to raise awareness, because people would certainly be interested if they knew about it. As it is now, the facility gives off a negative impression of decline. You have a great opportunity to make this an interesting community center but it's not being utilized. At the very least, maintain the outside walls with a fresh coat of paint and opt for low-maintenance bushes instead of the current random unshaped flower plants from the year 2001. The gates also need a fresh coat, as does the street bumpers and entrance boulevard with better landscape design. You could update the entrance sign as well. You could be getting so much more return on investment if you knew how to properly get the most out of this place. Please enlist some external assistance for this, people who possess the knowledge and skills to effectively utilize this space. Your marketing is also lacking, you should also enlist external help for this. Those tiny posters on the outside unfortunately are not enough to raise awareness of your activities. You could do better, you got this!"

"Came here for a birthday party in their smaller room. Really nice facilities and a beautiful property. Tons of parking. There was another party going on in the bigger room and we got to peek in and that looked amazing too. Well maintained bathrooms and everything looked clean."

"This place, here in South Miami, left a really bad taste in my mouth. I was invited to a Christmas event at this location and witnessed the worst treatment ever towards the host. The host is an elderly person who simply didn’t read the fine print and was unclear about a particular portion of the contract that was signed in order to rent the facility. However, the compassionless person covering for the night was extremely rude and very inconsiderate! I’m not sure why the lodge would even allow a soulless, hateful person to have such authority. Additionally, I usually donate to various organizations based on my experiences with them and I must say that I will never consider this place as an option to recommend or patronize on ANY level. And hopefully, others will do their research and contribute to a friendlier place. I will be sharing this cruel experience with many others. How dare you take advantage of the elderly!"

"This place is amazing! The property feels like a country club with acres of wooded space. They are also a charity focused on needy children. Members accepted. Visit, rent the ballrooms and join the organization! They are a great bunch of people you will love. A great place for your wedding or event."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
